Backside Learning Center
Backside Learning Center offers volunteer opportunities in their ESL instruction, fundraising, family tutor, and other programs. Volunteers can apply on the Backside Learning Center site, and can anticipate a response within five business days. Volunteers will be asked to complete a background check.
Kentucky Refugee Ministries offers volunteer opportunities to individuals over the age of 16, who complete a background check and attend an orientation. KRM volunteers can make a one-time or three-month commitment.
Catholic Charities welcomes volunteers after the completion of an orientation session and a background check. Small groups (1-5 people) must provide a week advanced notice while larger groups (6+ people) need to notify the organization within four weeks of their planned volunteer date.
Kentucky Office for Refugees (KOR)
Kentucky Office of Refugees offers volunteer opportunities to individuals who complete an application, a background check, and attend orientation and safe environment training. Volunteers can work in KOR administrative offices, long-term care, migrant and refugee services, mother-infant care, senior driver services, and the sister visitor center.
Americana World Community Center
Americana World Community Center welcomes volunteers after the completion of an application and attendance of an orientation that is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:00- 7:00pm a the Americana Community Center. If you are over the age of 18 a background check is required and if you are under the age of 18 a Youth Volunteer Consent Form is also required.
La Casita Center
La Casita welcomes volunteers who can participate in English conversation practice, mentor youth, help with homework and other activities to help refugees become financially independent. La Casita seeks individuals or groups to volunteer for a couple hours a week or even a day of service.
